For years people have been making websites that have designs which are optimised for all types of screen sizes such as tablets and mobiles. There are so many reasons for doing this that it’s a no-brainer. Last year, mobile usage exceeded PC for the first time and if your website still isn’t optimised for all devices then you have yet another reason to do this.

Earlier this year Google announced that it would be using mobile friendliness as a ranking factor when it decides where to position websites. In simpler terms, this means that if your website is not optimised for mobiles/tablets then it will be at a disadvantage when it comes to gaining high search engine positions. You can test this by entering your website address into Google and if it does not say “mobile-friendly” next to your website’s listing then it is not optimised for these devices.

Google will be using mobile friendliness as a ranking signal from 21st April so you still have time although it’s not far away!
